****** VERDERAME ******
Because I’ve always sold my jewelry in person, I never had to explain about things you could take into your hands, and look at by yourself. But for remote selling there are things I’d like you to know. 1
1. *VERDERAME* (the name of my jewelry) is the Italian name for verdigris, the patina turning copper from red to greenish with age. I love that veering of shade, and I use this word in reference to things old, things found, vintage fragments I utilize for my work.
2. My *VERDERAME* are made with refurbished bits and pieces from all sorts of sources (I have gathered them for decades, ends of stocks, estate sales...) mixed with new material and fresh supplies. Many pieces are born by a residual earring… Indeed, if you want a lone earring to become a pendant, necklace or pin, feel free to let me know. Because of the odd and ends, often antiques, I like to revive, the oxidized chain, the “defective” stone, the irregular bead you’ll find are not there by chance. I have carefully chosen them and deliberately, carefully put them there.
Necklaces
3. My linked jewelry, within the range of my skills, is regular and symmetrical, while my beaded jewelry very rarely is. In my beaded necklaces, pendants are hardly supposed to hang straight in the middle. I often wish for them to design curves and curlicues, be naïf, a bit casual, with a 70ies flavor.
4. Some of my beaded jewelry is threaded with silk cord, which hangs “limp” with gravity. Some is threaded with Beadalon wire, which when lied flat has a bit of an independent life. I have differently threaded each piece for a reason, which is how it would ultimately look on the body. By the pictures, you’ll see exactly how each necklace hangs, and you can rely on that. But should you prefer to know what type of threading I have used, please ask :) and I'll tell you.
5. I like to mix metals. I have pieces that mix silver and brass, gold and iron or copper, in all kind of combinations. I also like to mix precious and non precious, and you don't pay for the worth of the materials, as they are always unpredictably matched. The only thing I never or seldom use is plastic. But I have mixed emeralds and sapphire with hardware, real pearls with buttons, clay, straw. Because each piece is a salad, so to speak, you pay for two things only: labor and design.
Earrings
<> Rings <>
6. My *VERDERAME* have names… that’s for fun, but it helps with organization, especially “remote.” You are totally free, once you buy them, to call them otherwise :)
Based on their name and and number, it should be easy to find matching earrings, ring, bracelet for each necklace. Not for all, but almost, and for some there are multiple choice… for example, for the design I’ve called Unique. There you go… it has two matching bracelets. To make a long story short, the above matching system is loose…
Not the jewelry itself. No, that’s decently assembled. But the system purposely is. I just wanted to offer some possibilities, as it frequently occurs that a person who buys a necklace asks for a matching element. So I like playing with the idea of parure, but you can create your own! You will see that many of the paired pieces have components, motifs and colors in common, but not in rigorous manner. You can match whatever you like with whatever you like (just as I do) and you can buy any piece without its companions.
7. Measurements (for necklaces and bracelets) are standard, which means 7" for bracelets, 16" for chokers, 17" or more princess/longer chains. Within the average, though, there are slightly smaller and slightly larger pieces. I can tell you which is which, and if you’d give me an exact neck measurement I'll make sure that the piece you like will fit you.. I can almost always add a lengthener, at no cost. The size of each ring is indicated in parentheses.
8. My pieces are decently strong (I give them the old-style yank-treatment to make sure they’d hold the road) but they aren’t “foolproof.” Jewelry breaks, as I well know because I’ve done repairs since my teens. Pieces don’t break because they are badly done. They break for wear and tear due to age (which won’t apply in this case) and they break just because they are fragile. If you buy my very delicate pieces (with the tiniest stones, necessarily linked with the tiniest wire and the tiniest chain) and you yank them real hard, I promise you they will break.
Bracelets
9. I don’t sell through my website, though, YES, I can process payment online. But you’ll need to directly contact me at my email address, totihan30 at yahoo dot com. Which is great, because that way you can ask me questions and I can reply before we do business, and make sure you’ll get what you really want.
10. What else? I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch… That is why we need to get in touch before a transaction!
11. Well, sure! Shipping fees apply (unless you live near me and then I’ll do porch/delivery). They are on the affordable side (about $4 domestic and about $15 internationally for a packet that holds 5 pieces or more) because all is quite light..
Yes! As soon as a piece is sold, the website says SOLD. Right away… If it's not marked SOLD, the piece is still there, obviously waiting for you ***
THANK YOU!
